In your self portrait
Shot back from the mirror,
The reflected flash obscures your face,
But highlights the sleek and warm contours
Of your torso’s veneer.
Like fulgent sunlight on a slickrock tower
It blinds and attracts my gaze,
Exposes the essence of transient desire,
And penetrates not just eternity
But also my better judgment.
